BRUNO'S OF BROOKLYN ITALIAN EATERY – Restaurant

Downtown Fort Myers has plenty of Italian, but few kitchens roll their own pasta the way this First Street eatery does. Opened in 2014 by Calcedonio and Genevieve Bruno, it works a Brooklyn-Italian playbook without apology. Eggplant rollatini and broccoli rabe sit beside gnocchi alfredo with gulf shrimp, black truffle and ricotta ravioli, dover sole francese, and prime ribeye pizzaiola in plum tomato, oregano and garlic. Lunch runs midday, happy hour bridges the gap, and dinner stretches late. Diners return for the meatballs and the lasagna as much as anything on the specials board. Tiramisu, as ever, closes it out.
