CALICO CACTUS – Restaurant
The original shop, on South Ponce de Leon Boulevard, where the day runs from seven until three and then simply stops. Breakfast tacos are the draw, built on tortillas made from scratch: Area 51 with spicy chorizo and monterey jack, the Miranda Special with pickled onion and pepper jelly, the vegetarian miga with poblanos and queso. Lunchier tacos follow, braised chicken with goat cheese and pepper jelly, or the Fireproof with brisket and poblanos. Breakfast burritos arrive with a dipping sauce. Kids get quesadillas or a bean and cheese taco. Handmade salsas, queso and locally roasted coffee round it out.
