The Hialeah room of a family Cuban chain that has fed Miami-Dade since the late seventies, sitting on West 68th Street with cafe con leche pouring from six in the morning. Croquetas, mariquitas de malanga, papa rellena and tostones rellenos start things off. Then come ropa vieja braised with tomato, peppers and onions, empanizado de res, masas de puerco, chuleta de puerco and a whole fried fish. Mofongos rellenos and a Peruvian-style jalea mixta widen the range; flan closes it. The Alvarado family runs the group, portions run outsized, and the counter moves fast. Delivery and catering run alongside it.
