A few steps from the sand on East Atlantic Boulevard, Carlucci's brings Sicilian home cooking oceanside, with indoor-outdoor seating and a brick oven doing the heavy lifting. Rosario Troia, raised in Torretta above Palermo, opened the first Carlucci's in Coconut Creek in 1991 and still cooks what he calls Italian soul food. Pies run from the thick-crust Old Fashion Grandma to Rosario's Pie with meatball, fennel sausage and ricotta. Pasta is the other draw: short rib pappardelle, black seafood linguini, bucatini alla Norma. Grouper Livornese, grilled octopus and crisp arancini round it out. Order, then carry it toward the water.
