In downtown Fernandina Beach, a few blocks from the Amelia Island waterfront on Centre Street, Luca and his son Brandon run a modern room that stays upscale without stiffening up. Pizza is the super-thin kind: margherita, pizza bianca with ricotta and gorgonzola, goat cheese with caramelised onion. Pastas are billed as Luca's family recipes, among them rigatoni Ciao with scallops and shrimp, gnocchi aurora, porcini tortelloni in truffle cream and lobster ravioli. Secondi run to veal piccata, shrimp scampi and zuppa de pesce over spaghetti. Full bar, long wine list, Peroni on tap, and a different chef's special every night.
