DOGGI'S AREPA BAR – Restaurant
The full-plate side of a Venezuelan kitchen, not just the counter snacks. Pabellon criollo lands the way it should, shredded beef with black beans, rice and sweet plantain, with chicken and oriental versions beside it. Asado negro, chicken milanesa, salmon and mahi-mahi fill out the classics, and the brasa turns out marinated churrasco and grilled chicken thigh. Patacones stack their fillings between slabs of fried green plantain; tostones, yuca fries and mashed potatoes hold down the sides. Soup arrives as a proper slow-cooked sopa de res. Portions run generous, the flavours run bold, and nothing here is quietly toned down.
