EL BANDEJAZO – Restaurant

On West 12th Avenue, El Bandejazo runs a small Cuban-Latin counter built around the platter its name promises: heaping combination plates piled with churrasco, lechón asado or vaca frita, rice, tostones and beans enough for two. Medianoches come pressed and warm, arroz campesino mixes rice with chorizo and vegetables, and a chicken bowl covers the lighter end of the menu. Ropa vieja shows up tender and well seasoned, white coffee runs strong, and flan with coconut closes the meal out sweetly. Regulars keep calling out the service and the vibe as much as the food. Portions are generous, prices reasonable.
