On Overseas Highway in Key Largo, The Fish House buys only whole fish from local commercial fishermen and fillets each catch on site, unchanged since the restaurant opened at the start of the Conch Republic era. Order the catch fried, grilled, broiled, jerked or blackened, or bring your own fish for the kitchen to prepare. The seafood market up front sells the same fish for cooking at home. Signature dishes include Jeans Greens, a family-recipe salad with bleu cheese and Catalina dressing, and a coconut key lime pie made fresh daily. There is no reservation line; diners simply walk in.
