A block from the Atlantic in Daytona Beach Shores, High Tide Kitchen opens at seven and runs breakfast all day - coffee, conversation and plates built from scratch. Mira's kitchen turns out big fluffy pancakes, corned beef hash, a morning hash crowned with avocado, the Surfer Dude breakfast, a Greek bowl and a gyro omelet, with vanilla-chocolate-walnut French toast for the sweet-toothed. Lunch starts at eleven. Diners come back as much for the welcome as the cooking, and repeatedly describe the portions as generous and the food as genuinely homemade. Small room, family-run, closed by three.
