HUNGRY HOWIES – Restaurant

Commonwealth Avenue, a small Polk County town, and a pizza shop that knows its regulars. Hungry Howie's created the flavored-crust category in 1985 and still hands it over free — asiago, cajun, ranch, sesame, garlic herb, butter, butter cheese, Italian herb, mixable two to a pie. Alongside the pizzas: calzone-style oven-baked subs, Howie Bread, Howie Wings and tenders, fresh salads, cookies. Carryout or delivery, with rotating deals. It's the kind of order you place without discussion — and the crust is why it won the argument in the first place.
