James Trent has been feeding Jacksonville's Westside since 1997, and J.L. Trent's still looks the part — an unassuming room on 120th Street where the seafood comes out Southern, fried and in quantities that catch first-timers off guard. Bang bang shrimp is the dish people name first; flounder and grouper anchor the rest of the board, with all the fixings alongside. Prices stay fair and the service stays friendly, which is most of why the same faces keep turning up. Come for the shrimp. Stay because the portions dared you.
