JOHN THE BAKER – Restaurant

A family Italian house that traces its dough back to a 1960 opening in Stamford, Connecticut, and now runs three South Florida rooms - this one on SE Third Court in Deerfield Beach. The garlic rolls are the calling card, and they arrive alongside handmade pizza, chicken and veal parmigiana, eggplant rollatini, mussels marinara, lasagna and four-cheese ravioli. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free versions are handled without fuss, and the dough is made fresh every day. Diners talk about the rolls first and the pizza second, then come back for both. Casual, generous, scratch-made.
