On Northlake Boulevard in Lake Park, Jon Smith Subs works a grill, not just a slicer. Marinated sirloin and chicken breast go on to order: the Steak Bomb with grilled onions, peppers, mushrooms, bacon and provolone, Italian steak sauteed in marinara, smoked cajun with jalapenos, teriyaki with sesame and honey glaze. There are meatball and kielbasa subs, hot pastrami, gyros on pita, Italian cold cuts and albacore tuna, on rolls baked fresh each day. Portions are frankly large and the fries come out crisp. Sub-shop cooking with the volume turned up.
