Jacksonville's Northside has been eating Joseph's pizza since 1956, and the sign still says it plainly: home of the homemade crust. The dough is mixed and hand-tossed on site, the sauce is old-school Italian-American, and the kitchen turns out spaghetti, lasagna and baked ziti alongside the pies. Regulars talk about the chicken parm sandwich as often as the pizza, and about counter staff who treat a first visit like a return one. Prices stay modest. Seven decades on North Main Street, still doing one thing very well.
