A Jacksonville barbecue name since 1949, still cutting meat to order behind the counter and still smoking everything on site. Lunch moves fast here: a pulled pork or brisket sandwich, a BLT built on slow-smoked brisket and a fried green tomato, or the Duval Hot Chicken with buffalo-tossed tenders, ranch and pickles. Salads arrive under brisket, pork or char-grilled chicken. Sides run baked beans, Brunswick stew, collard greens, fried okra and fried corn on the cob. Drive-thru, dine-in, and catering on request. Homemade cobbler if the banana pudding is gone. Down-home smoke without ceremony, and the regulars treat it accordingly.
