Delicatessen and appetizing, the old two-part name, and Josh's earns both halves. Fish and meat are cured on the premises, breads and bagels are baked daily from a live sourdough starter, and the condiments are made in house. The menu is small and deliberate: Schmulka's steak under a ponzu dip, a classic deli burger and fries, chulent kugel on Thursdays. The kitchen has become fully kosher and has drawn Michelin Guide recognition two years running. A Surfside fixture that cooks like it means it.
