Tucked into the Kimpton Shorebreak a block off Fort Lauderdale Beach, La Fuga reads coastal Italian and means it. Chef Michael Mayer builds everything in-house and leans on South Florida produce and locally landed seafood: veal meatballs, beef carpaccio, gnocchi della casa, tagliatelle alla bolognese, scallops, veal marsala. House-made cannoli, tiramisu and gelato finish, and the bar pours spritzes, seasonal cocktails and its own limoncello. Guests single out the pastas and an easy, salt-air setting that never tips into stuffy. Hotel dining that doesn't feel like hotel dining.
