LA HORMIGA ORO – Restaurant

Out on NW 67th Avenue in Palm Springs North, this is a fritanga in the proper sense: charbroiled meat plated with gallo pinto, grilled corn, maduros, tostones, fried yuca, fried cheese and tortillas, served from seven in the morning until late at night. Mornings run to huevos rancheros and scrambled eggs with Spanish sausage. The Nicaraguan fruit juices - maracuya, cacao, cebada - are worth choosing over a soda. What diners keep coming back to is how fresh it tastes for the money. Generous, unhurried, and open before almost anything else.
