LOS ROQUES – Restaurant

Tucked in beside a car service shop on NW 22nd Avenue, Cafeteria Los Roques is the kind of Venezuelan counter you find by accident and then keep returning to. Coffee from seven in the morning, empanadas out of the fryer, arepas made to order, scrambled eggs and slow-cooked pork for anyone eating a real breakfast. Ten to twenty dollars covers it. What diners raise first is the welcome, warm and quick and genuinely pleased to see you, and arepas that hold their own anywhere in the county. An unlikely room. Seriously good food.
