Set inside the Carriage Club on Collins Avenue, Matana is Miami Beach's kosher answer to a proper Mediterranean dining room - white tablecloths, a full bar and a kitchen under Vaad HaKashrus supervision. The cooking runs Mediterranean-modern, and the room is set up for the rhythm of the week: pre-paid Friday-night and Shabbat-day meal packages sit alongside regular a-la-carte service, with takeout and delivery for the neighbourhood. Diners single out the polish of the service and the fact that a kosher kitchen here feels like fine dining first. Booked early on Fridays, and deservedly so.
