Out by the Forum in Fort Myers, McAlister's runs a straightforward counter-service deli with a dining room attached. The sandwiches carry it: turkey, Black Forest ham and bacon in the McAlister's Club, thin-sliced roast beef in the French Dip, corned beef in the Reuben. Chicken tortilla soup and the Savannah Chopped Salad round it out, and the baked spuds are a category of their own - enormous, loaded, and treated as a main course by everyone who orders one. Sweet tea, refilled without asking.
