Melrose Burgers 'N Fries Encino – Restaurant

A small, unfussy counter on Ventura Boulevard built around one thing done properly: smashed patties pressed thin, edges lacy and crisp. The Western burger and the Backyard Boogie are the ones people order twice; there are chicken tenders in buffalo or lemon-pepper coats, a spicy chicken sandwich, fried pickles and carne asada fries alongside. The fries themselves get as much praise as the burgers, seasoned and properly crisp. It is a quick-lunch and late-craving sort of room rather than a destination, and regulars talk warmly about the owner. Not cheap, but few complaints about what it buys.
