MI PAN BORICUA CAFE – Restaurant

A Goldenrod Road cafe-panaderia near the airport, Mi Pan Boricua opens at seven and runs on Puerto Rican and Cuban comfort food. Cuban sandwiches and sandwich de pernil come pressed on fresh Cuban bread; around them sit pastelillos, alcapurrias, ham croquetas, pernil asado, steak and cheese, and a bowl of sopa de pollo. The room is small and fills fast, so a good deal of it goes out in bags. Regulars describe honest home cooking at a fair price and a counter that greets you like family. Get there early for the fritters.
