OBEE'S SOUP SALAD SUBS – Restaurant

A Venice sandwich counter that has built its trade on made-to-order subs and not much else — which is the compliment. Bread, meats, cheeses and toppings assembled in front of you, a rotating soup list that takes in broccoli and cheese and chicken noodle, and garden, chef and deli-style salads for anyone skipping the roll. Two shops serve the town, on Tamiami Trail on the island and further south. Weekday lunch is the rush; party trays and catering handle everything else. Fast, fresh, local, and entirely unbothered about being fashionable.
