Shakers Conch House has been frying conch on NW 22nd Avenue since 1990, with a second counter opening in Liberty City four years later. It is a family business - Hudgon and Annie Milbry and their son Raynard - and it is a takeout window in the truest sense: no tables, no atmosphere, mostly locals, all of it beside the point. People come for the conch, cracked and fried, and stay for the barbecue ribs and fish dinners that come with macaroni and cheese, collard greens and fries. Regulars are blunt about it: this is one of the genuine Miami food stops, and the conch is why.
