TACOS AL VAPOR – Restaurant

Tacos Al Vapor works West Kentucky Avenue in West Tampa and makes its tortillas by hand, which shows up most clearly in the empanadas de chicharron - fried, then buried in salsa. The tacos go where most places will not: cabeza and orejitas alongside the safer carne asada and chicharron. Pozole, tostadas and quesadillas fill out a menu built for people who grew up on this food. Open eleven to ten daily. Regulars review it in two words and mean them. Steamed tacos, done the traditional way, in a city that has plenty of alternatives.
