A strip-mall room on Aloma Avenue dressed up like the French Quarter, loud in the good way once the live music starts. The kitchen cooks Louisiana straight: chicken and andouille filé gumbo, jambalaya, étouffée, fried shrimp po'boys, shrimp and andouille cheddar grits, and a shrimp and alligator cheesecake people order on a dare and finish anyway. Beignets close it out. Servers wear stars for years logged, and the tenure shows in how the room runs. Weekend brunch draws its own crowd. Come hungry — even the half portions are not small.
