Open around the clock on First Avenue, the Tramway is the small, perpetually busy Manhattan diner that catches the 2am crowd and the lunch rush with equal ease. The kitchen runs a long Greek-American menu: a thick, properly seared burger, egg wraps, home fries, a prix fixe that arrives in serious quantity. The French onion soup is what regulars lead with, deep-flavored under a blanket of melted cheese, and the lemon meringue pie closes things out. Seats are tight and the turnover is quick, but the counter crew keeps the warmth in it. A late-night safety net that genuinely cooks.
