TREN – Restaurant

A trailer on Ponce de Leon Boulevard cooking Southern food from recipes that were handed down rather than workshopped. Mornings start at seven with fish and grits, chicken and waffles, and full platters of eggs, toast and grits. From eleven the board shifts to shrimp and fries, hibachi-style steak, pork chop sandwiches and burger combos. The sides are where the real argument is: collard greens, macaroni, cabbage, candied yams, lima beans, seafood salad, rice and baked beans. Sweet tea and Kool-Aid come by the gallon, and they cater and pack meals to go. Soul food, plainly and generously served.
