Ayoub is a fisherman, and his restaurant sits on the shore at Jisr az-Zarqa — the last Arab fishing village on Israel's coast — which is roughly the entire argument for eating here. The kitchen is Mediterranean and short-form: whatever came out of the sea that morning, grilled or fried, laid out with a table of homemade salads and bread. You eat with sand nearby and no ceremony whatsoever. Diners keep coming back for the freshness of the fish and the sheer unpretentiousness of the setting. Catch, salads, sea. That is the menu.
