VICTORIOS OYSTER BAR & GRILLE – Restaurant
Family-owned since 1979 and grown out of a neighbourhood pizzeria, Victorio's on Dog Track Road is where Longwood goes for oysters. Raw on the half shell, by the bucket, or Rockefeller; then steamer platters, snow crab legs, conch fritters, hush puppies, gator bites and an all-you-can-eat fried fish that keeps the room full. Homemade sauces and pizza dough survive from the pizzeria years. The place is worn in rather than polished, with a big bar, an aquarium and a crowd that clearly knows the staff. Diners keep saying the same thing: fresh seafood, fair prices, no pretence.
