Z Ramen sits in a Mills Drive plaza in Kendall, a cosy Japanese noodle house that opens at half eleven and rarely feels quiet. Miso ramen with pork is the bowl regulars name first, and the sakura spicy ramen has its own following, but the menu ranges further — Korean spicy rice bowls, pad Thai, fried noodles, udon, takoyaki, vegetable spring rolls and Thai donuts. There is a fierce crushed-pepper sauce on every table. Diners talk constantly about portion sizes they cannot finish and prices that do not match them. Big bowls, quick service, no fuss.
