5101 GRILL FOODTRUCK – Restaurant

Parked on West Waters Avenue in Tampa, this Venezuelan truck fires up on weekday evenings and works straight through the afternoon at weekends. Corn does the heavy lifting here. Arepitas come split and stuffed, and the cachapa con carne asada folds a sweet griddled corn pancake around grilled beef and cheese. Around them sit empanadas, the Patacon 5101 built on smashed green plantain, soups, and a picada of grilled meats made for picking at with several people. Yuca stands in for fries. Everything is cooked to order for pickup or delivery; nothing sits waiting. Venezuelan street food, no dining room.
