Afro-Boer® – restaurant

Afro-Boer calls itself a baker's cafe, and the bakery leads, in a business village on the corner of Meerlust and Lynnwood in Pretoria East. Mornings bring a salami and cheese croissant, scones, mosbolletjie or vetkoek with lemon curd, Kakamas peach butter or rooibos butter, and plaasbrood French toast under koeksister syrup. Heartier plates follow: boere boepie with putu pap and boerewors, melkkos, fiery chicken livers, eggs benedict. Sandwiches run shredded lamb on whole-wheat, kimchi sourdough, a kwaai braaibroodjie. There is garden seating, and a wine room called Die Wit Olifant. Doors open from seven daily; the kitchen shuts at five.
