ALOHA TO GO HALE – Restaurant

Hale means house, or home, and the Seminole Boulevard dining room takes the word seriously, running on the idea that guests arrive customers and leave ohana. The cooking is Hawaiian barbecue done straight: huli huli chicken basted and turned on the grill, ono teriyaki beef, kalbi, barbecue ribs, hand-breaded chicken katsu under house sauce, and loco moco with signature gravy and two fried eggs. Plates come the island way, rice and macaroni salad alongside. Poke bowls, spam musubi and a California burrito of beef, chicken, pulled pork and fresh pineapple round it out. A warm room, generous plates, no hurry.
