Nine floors up in Safura Tower, AVANO looks out over Mirpur 12 from a rooftop that hands the Dhaka skyline to the dining room. The kitchen works Pan-Asian, folding traditional Asian cooking into a modern register, and stakes its name on sushi and dumplings. Doors open at noon and stay open until eleven at night, every day of the week. Air-conditioned inside, reservations taken, waiter service throughout, with takeaway and delivery for anyone not staying. Larger groups fit comfortably. Diners talk about the calm of the room and the service as much as the plates. Fine dining without the starch.
