Two blocks back from the ocean on Third Street South, Beachside is half fish market and half dining room, and the counter case up front sets the tone. The smoked fish dip is smoked right there on the premises and has been the calling card since 1989. Start with peel-and-eat Mayport shrimp straight from the steamer under old bay, conch fritters made daily, gator tail, or a dozen little necks raw or steamed. Then po' boys, steamed platters, Beachside baskets, deviled crab, crab cakes bound with old bay and house breadcrumb. Homemade pies close it out. Market fresh, fried right.
