Beta Café – coffee_shop

The original Beta opened in 2003 inside a low-slung neighbourhood shopping centre on Brodetzky Street, and the big shaded plaza out front still does half the work: children run about while parents linger over coffee. Regulars order without reading. The kitchen covers a whole day - shakshuka plain or with chorizo, avocado brioche under tahini and a fried egg, spinach, leek and feta pastry, nicoise and quinoa salads at midday, then pappardelle bolognese, chicken schnitzel with mash, sumac-rubbed pargit and lamb kebab on pita. Vegan plates get real thought here. Doors open at eight daily; booking ahead is plainly sensible.
