BETTYS – American
Belmont Street's old Chizuko room reopened as Betty's, named for the owner's grandmother and run as bar, kitchen and music venue at once. Daisy Doyle and Lynn Cameron kept the moody lighting and dark, eccentric clutter, then put a proper kitchen behind it. Curry boiled peanuts carried over from the previous tenant; beside them come pho, udon, tofu and eggplant cabbage wraps, daily sushi specials and seasonal soups served late into the night. Draft beer rotates and sake bombs get ordered in rounds. Vegans are looked after properly, not grudgingly. The owners plainly call it a safe space for everyone.
