An Avondale fixture on St Johns Avenue since 1996, as much bakery as restaurant, with a dessert case that changes as deliveries arrive. Dinner is genuinely ambitious: blue-cheese crusted beef medallions under shiitake demi-glace, ancho chili rubbed pork chop with baked mac and cheese, chicken francaise in lemon-artichoke piccata sauce, seared redfish with sweet corn beurre blanc, and tagliatelle with middleneck clams and bottarga gremolata. A crispy yuzu braised cabbage covers the vegan table. Weekend brunch and a daily cafe menu keep the room busy from early breakfast onward. Regulars come for dinner and stay for the croissant bread pudding.
