Haitian and Creole cooking on Northwest 7th Avenue, run at the pace of a home kitchen rather than a dining room. Griot is the constant, fried pork brought out daily alongside fried chicken and a house spicy sauce, and plates land with rice and beans, salad and fried plantains. Legume, the slow-cooked vegetable stew, is the other pillar; a seafood version with shrimp, conch and crab appears only on Wednesdays. Stewed fish in a white sauce turns up on the board too. Come evening the kitchen switches to fritay, the Haitian fried board. Ordering ahead is genuinely worth doing here.
