Clinton St. Baking Company – american_restaurant

A narrow Lower East Side room on Clinton Street that has been drawing morning queues since 2001, and still does. Pancakes are the reason: wild Maine blueberry stacks under warm maple butter, banana walnut, chocolate chunk. Around them sit the mixed berry buttermilk waffle, brioche French toast, Mexican eggs benedict, huevos rancheros and a Spanish scramble. Later the kitchen turns to buttermilk fried chicken, the fried chicken sandwich and a properly juicy burger, with dinner Wednesday through Saturday. Baking runs underneath all of it, biscuits, muffins and a blueberry cheesecake. Reservations exist, but most people simply come early and wait.
