Lakeland's downtown sushi room reopened as Daisy Garden after new owners took over the long-running Tsunami Sushi on North Tennessee Avenue, keeping the hibachi grill and the rolls that built the following. Starters set the tone: crispy tuna, dynamite mussels, house-made gyoza, tempura, miso soup and a green salad under ginger dressing. From there come specialty rolls including the Scorpion, sashimi and nigiri cut to order, ahi tuna tower, tuna tataki, and hibachi steak, chicken, shrimp or combinations with vegetables and fried rice. A remodelled lounge pours cocktails and sake. Diners keep returning for freshness and unhurried, genuinely friendly service.
