DON MELCHOR – Restaurant

A small Mexican dining room off Bannerman Road north of Tallahassee, in the Bannerman Village stretch. The queso flameado arrives table-side, chorizo and Mexican cheeses melted together and served with warm flour tortillas. Quesabirria quesadillas are stuffed with tender short rib; Don Melchor street tacos come three to a plate with onion, cilantro and lime. Beyond that sit camarones a la crema in creamy chipotle, pollo loco, choripapas, nachos locos, carne asada with grilled onions, and a parillada for two piled with chicken, steak, shrimp, chorizo, carnitas and cactus. Margaritas and specialty cocktails follow on. Unfussy, warm, red and green.
