Euphemia Haye has anchored Longboat Key's Gulf of Mexico Drive since 1975, opened by Leslie Butin as a tribute to his grandmother and carried forward from 1980 by chefs who built the island's fine-dining destination. Downstairs, an eclectic a la carte menu unfolds in a garden setting; upstairs, the Haye Loft turns the original owner's apartment into a lounge for cocktails. The Dessert Room takes no reservations, walk-ins only, its pastry case visible from the tables, made fresh daily. Guests describe the service as gracious and the atmosphere as unmatched on the key. New owners now carry the traditions forward.
