JULIO'S EMPANADAS – Restaurant
A converted gas station on 49th Street South, plastic trays and foil, and some of the most serious empanada work in Pinellas County. Chef Julio Pagan Jr. moved off his food truck into this Gulfport corner and the case shows it: traditional beef, chicken, Cuban sandwich, loaded meatball, plus specials like osso buco braised beef, deviled crab and garlic shrimp — all pointed at the house sweet onion sauce. There are Latin bowls, a Cuban gyro, smash burgers and guava-cheese dessert empanadas too. Nobody comes for the decor. They come back for the sauce.
