There is a queue most weekend mornings, and it moves. Keke's in Lakeland trades on speed without cutting corners — the kitchen cooks to order, grinds its own coffee and refuses a microwave. Waffles are the sleeper order: Belgian, chocolate chip, strawberry, or the Florida Waffle under fresh strawberries, banana and blueberries. Alongside them sit stuffed French toast, eggs benedict, scrambler bowls and eight ways to take an omelet, then a lunch list of paninis, wraps and burgers. Closing time is half past two, every day.
