The original Brooklyn maman sits on Kent Street a few blocks from the Greenpoint waterfront, built around a generous coffee-and-pastry counter and a set of dreamy suspended tables people plan their morning around. The French-American café group founded by Elisa Marshall and Benjamin Sormonte trades in south-of-France charm and serious baking — the nutty chocolate chip cookie that landed on Oprah's Favorite Things in 2017 is still the calling card, alongside seasonal croissants, salads, sandwiches and wraps. The industrial-Brooklyn bones sit surprisingly well against the toile and blue-and-white china. Come for coffee; leave with cookies.
