La Cabra Bakery – coffee_shop

The Danish roaster's first New York room sits on Second Avenue in the East Village: Hans Wegner chairs, bespoke KH Wurtz tiles running the length of the bar, and a working bakery behind it. Naturally leavened sourdough and hand-laminated croissants come out through the morning, but the cardamom bun is the one people arrive for - golden, chewy, shot through with crunchy baked sugar. The coffee carries equal weight; La Cabra roasts its own. Doors open at seven on weekdays. No reservations, and none needed.
