The first maman, opened on Centre Street in 2014 and still the heart of the brand: exposed brick, antique provincial décor, a floral entryway, and a tranquil back garden regulars treat as a private escape. Elisa Marshall and Benjamin Sormonte built a French-American café here around baking — the nutty chocolate chip cookie made Oprah's Favorite Things in 2017 — plus salads, sandwiches, wraps and a rotating seasonal run of pastries and lattes. Three distinct seating areas make it a natural spot for a small gathering. Take a window seat for the people-watching, or the garden when you want to disappear.
